UNSW TYREE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES BUILDING PV SYSTEM
In 2010, CAT Projects was engaged by the University of NSW to design and install a large rooftop photovoltaic (PV) energy system on the new Tyree Energy Technologies Building (TETB). The TETB is currently under construction and when completed in the beginning of 2012 it will become the new home of energy research at the University of New South Wales.
The design for the TETB system has evolved through a long process of consultation with the UNSW and the building architects to ensure it integrates into the underlying building design. Commissioned in November 2011, the 150kW PV array spans the multifaceted roof surface and includes a PV skylight over the main atrium area, and will supply a significant portion of energy consumed by the TETB in its daily activities.
