Richard is a qualified electrical engineer with extensive experience in primary and secondary high, medium and low voltage electrical power systems. While working with CAT Projects, Richard has completed feasibility assessments, high level design and procurement, detailed design and project management for a number of commercial and utility scale renewable (solar and wind) energy projects ranging from 365KW to 150MW. Richard has also overseen the design and construction management of a large scale commercial energy management system. Richard has also been engaged as a consultant (on secondment by CAT Projects) working for the World bank and Asian Development Bank working on international projects in Cambodia, Solomon Island and the Cook Islands

Richard's current or recent projects include:

  • Solomon Island: Solar Integration Technical Study, consultant role
  • Rarotonga, Cook Islands : Battery Energy Storage Feasibility study for the Cook Islands Renewable Energy Sector, consultant role
  • Darwin International Airport: Project Manager 1.5 MW & 4.0 MW Solar farms
    Duties: Development approvals, preliminary design, tender documentation, procurement, technical approval, construction support, responding to technical queries and commissioning & signing off
  • Alice Spring Hospital: Project Manager Emergency electrical Upgrade
    Duties: Construction management, responding to technical queries
  • Waterloo Wind Farm: Electrical Consultant Engineer, addition of  six wind turbines (total capacity 20MW) to existing wind farm
    Duties: Reviewing and approving electrical designs, electrical construction management
  • Yulara Renewable Project: Project Manager & Electrical Consultant Engineer 1.8 MW solar project
    Duties: Preliminary design, tender documentation, procurement management, technical approvals and responding to technical queries
  • Alice Springs Airport: Project Manager, Automated Energy Management system
    Duties: Preliminary design, tender scoping, procurement management, construction management and system commissioning

Before moving to Australia and taking on a role with CAT Projects, Richard was an electrical contractor in the UK, undertaking projects in energy management, electrical maintenance, asset management and project management.  Richard has been employed as the lifecycle electrical asset manager for a major hospital in London.  Richard's experience as an independent contractor gave him hands on experience in maintaining 11kV generators, transformers and switching devices across more than twenty commercial sites in London.
