Bert joined CAT Projects as a Renewables Engineer in 2016 after completing his PhD at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium.  He has extensive experience in photovoltaic energy, both grid-connected and off-grid. Bert brings an international perspective to the Australian business and operational environment, having lived in South America and Europe prior to moving to Australia.

Bert has published more than ten articles in peer reviewed journals and conferences, focusing on improved metrics and tools for system characterisation. He currently works with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency on Knowledge Sharing for off-grid, fringe-of-grid and grid-connected systems encompassing a range of technologies, from diesel generation and solar to wind power and demand management. Bert is also involved with technical due diligence for large renewable and hybrid power systems.
